In late 2015, the Green Team of Country Club Christian Church met with Landgenuity to discuss some additions to their landscape master plan. This 2016 Update included new amenities in an open area to the east of their main sanctuary building. Quiet reflecting areas, picnic facilities, a children's nature play space, and open ground for festivities were all framed artistically to function well and fit with the beautiful character of the existing campus landscape. 

Cedar Lake Village has constructed the most unique memory care facility in the Kansas City region called Town Square. It is a secure memory care assisted living community for individuals who are living with irreversible dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.

Interior and exterior spaces are designed with consideration of the specific needs of those who can benefit from memory support. Within the courtyard between the two main wings of the building rests the "Memory Playground" where custom features offer residents opportunities to get some fresh air and enjoy activities that remind them of fond memories.

Lara Justesen was honored to serve as the landscape architectural project manager for the development and coordination of all exterior components of the project; working with Boulder Associates, Architects; Payne and Brockway, Engineers; Lankford | Fendler + Associates, Engineers; and AL Huber, the project's General Contractor.

The City of Grandview sought to reinvent the park in which their showcase community center "The View" resides, recognizing that a building this beautiful and modern needed an equally inspiring outdoor experience. So, they set out to create one of the most unique destination playgrounds in the metro. 

Brumble's Forest is the brain child of Lara Justesen and Elizabeth Nelson, who lead the team of architects and engineers in developing the recreational homestead of enchanted character Brumble Pondswatter. The playground's full design includes sub-themed areas like Slideaway Hill, Pondswatter Swamp, and Brumble's Tree-top Hideaway.

Tracing a set of odd-looking footprints in the path, you'll discover Brumble's freinds: Dodo, Indri and high up in Brumble's treehouse, the Sloth. Each of the animals were chosen because they are extinct (or near extinct) to provide opportunities for nature-play to turn into nature-learning, while still having lots of fun.

The park redesign incorporated improved access to underutilized areas and augmented stormwater management within the park. 

The Galloways had a stormwater river running down their steeply sloped back terrace. What was formerly an erosion detriment was transformed into a beautiful and functional feature through design. Their landscape revamp resulted in new curb appeal in front and a backyard sanctuary fit for royalty.

Trammell Crow Company developed this 350,000 square foot bulk distribution center building near the Kansas City International Airport and asked Lara Justesen to complete a landscape plan that was attractive, lower maintenance, fit within budget and met all of the requirements set forth by the City of Kansas City, Missouri landscape ordinance. Total landscape budget was an estimated $100,000 and construction was completed in 2014. 

The Fitzke's were looking to revamp their exterior space and replace a sinking paver patio. Their concept creates new space to entertain and enjoy and includes a new deck with a shade pergola and night lighting; a grilling patio; and an outdoor fireplace for enjoying a cool evening under the stars.

After the unexpected loss of their daughter, the Cantrells decided to build a memorial garden in her honor on their homestead in Missouri. Mrs. Cantrell has an affinity for flowers of all kinds, so the planting plan was built to provide year-round interest with blooms in every season. An infinity symbol was requested within the paving pattern and incorporated within the strolling path's design. A stone memorial is incorporated near a small koi pond, and a footbridge leads the visitor to a shade arbor with a bench for viewing the memorial.

Ms. Bayless was looking to completely renovate the exterior of her new home and contacted Landgenuity to give her the direction she needed. She desired the addition of a community garden space which was accomplished by adding raised beds on the gradual slope near the driveway. Working together, we found a solution for stormwater issues that were causing flooding within the home, and used a redirected downspout to alleviate icy sidewalks in winter that in turn fills a rain barrel that irrigates the garden. The landscape plan also works around an existing rosebush, adds a reading nook, two rain gardens, a fruit orchard, and entertaining space.
